Metal work day

The forecast today was for rain starting at 6am and going all the way through the day. By the time I woke it had changed to 9am and that kept getting later.

Last night when I was heading to bed the moon was lovely and bright shining through the clouds. This morning Rosie went back to school and the men were in on time. After a bit of tidying they measured up for how much more steel and other metal they needed to finish the reinforcement work. After the pump was fixed yesterday this morning we finally got round to getting it primed and it is working very well now; Xena was wondering what I was doing stood in the box. Shortly afterwards Halil and Bekir got back from the shops with lots more metal and some cutting discs; they unloaded then cut down the blocks to make the slope smooth as I explained yesterday. All the time the threatened storm was apparently building and dumping a lot of rain in the town but it went past us in the end without much more than a very light smattering of raindrops and quite a lot of noise.

During the afternoon the men finished fitting all the upright rebar and then they pivoted to bending and fitting the two rings that will go around the upright rebar - the column will then be slotted in the middle. Tomorrow is forecast rain again but they've said they will be able to continue no matter what the weather, so we shall see. Rosie got back from school after a good day and immediately we all went into the garden. Angela did some more weeding and Rosie helped me with shovelling lots more soil out of the piles by the path and spreading it around the edge of the patio. Good success. Another storm was rumbling and threatening again however it also skirted us by a long way and we had no more rain. The best thing was standing on the balcony with Rosie and watching for lightning and she saw it and was so excited!

So there it is; thanks for reading again. Back tomorrow.
