A lovely weekend, a day off, and some progress

It's a longer update today covering the weekend (yes I have stuff I want to write about the weekend) and then today with the men back having taken yesterday off.

Saturday was glorious. Really lovely. Of course the virus is affecting us even here however on a day like that you could pretend everything is normal again. We were on the balcony and outside most of the day. I was on the balcony with Rosie when A spotted a hare in the back field and then later a bird of prey flew over - the resultant video suffers some from baby-in-arms-videoing but I think it shows it well enough. A popped out to collect a delivery from the courier, and get some stuff from the market if it had anything in it still, and then in the afternoon we tested Rosie's aircon (it's great) and I put my new lawnmower together and cut 1/3 of the area that we are going to keep neat and tidy from now on. All in all it was such a lovely day and a perfect way to start the weekend.

By contrast Sunday was rainy and horrible and we were stuck inside all day. What a difference a day does make.

Monday was a day of me working and A looking after Rosie and me almost overpaying my annual tax bill by a stupendous amount and that's about it. I did panic a bit about the virus causing our builders merchant to shut so I got Bekir to come past and work out the materials we'd need for the toilet and entrance porch project and he rang them for delivery but they didn't arrive anyway so that urgency wasn't needed. The evening was glorious, however, as you can see by the one picture I took.

And so to today, another beautiful sunrise, but it was very frosty indeed. The men arrived on time and got stuck in to the final tasks in Rosie's room like plastering over the new plasterboard, and Bekir was working on the windowsills. Hikmet was still clearing undergrowth up the side of the property, and doing a great job as always. The delivery arrived during the morning, delivery driver wearing mask as per usual nowadays, and it was all unloaded very quickly.

It was another sunny and warm day, once the frost cleared, and lunch time Rosie walked down to the front lawn and we sat and ate some of our lunch down there (before the bugs got too much). It was a much needed blast of fresh air and peace for me, just before another impact of the virus and my contract was cancelled, though now it's been reinstated just with an unpaid period. This virus is really causing such chaos, huh. The workmen have now all but completed Rosie's rooms - just a bit of painting and grouting to do, and the door between the rooms, and it is done. Sally and Halil, therefore, went out and got on again with preparing for the porch and toilet collection points (though they began by making the porch too narrow so that's been fixed) while Bekir put the final tiles at the doorway from the kitchen. Tomorrow the room will be complete and we can start to move Rosie downstairs - I'm unreasonably and amazingly excited by this. This evening A and I have stuck to our "games night" new routine and got a game in which was a lot of fun but ended early enough for me to do this update.

Thanks for reading, hopefully I'll be back tomorrow.
