Lights in the Art Room

I have been able to get to do a blog this evening after all but tomorrow there definitely won't be one as we're off out for our dinner. I still want this out of the way, though, so let's sweep through what has been a pretty good day.

We were both woken in the night by windows banging as a huge storm blew through. I was certain it was raining really heavily however when I woke again at the more usual time I found that the noise had only been wind. Incredible. The storm had passed by this time and only the trailing end of the clouds was present, and these cleared away enough that I had to pull the curtains to work. A went to collect the men while I did a live deploy and then my chores and they got back just after I sat back down. Bekir revealed what he had been doing the afternoon before; a large stack of pre-cut tiles for edging in the Games Room. Bekir also got into the corridor and put a temporary frame around the heart graffiti that we want to save so Hikmet would not remove it by accident. Mesut did his usual getting on with things thing and had done the small amount of remaining edging in the Art Room and then started on a second coat of paint. He's superb.

The next time I checked Mesut had finished the painting and was on with cleaning up the tiles in preparation for grouting. Bekir, for his part, had nearly done the edging in the Games Room and was flying through this task. Out in the corridor the mess was incredible, as was the noise as chunks of concrete and plaster came crashing down. Hikmet has really got into his rhythm on this as well now and is going much quicker than I expected.

After lunch, and it was such a glorious day again we ate on the patio though I took no pictures this time, I was back to work and when we smelt burning wood we went to investigate and found Bekir in the process of shaving a little off the bottom of the door so it would shut properly. Mesut, for his part, was right at the end of the grouting process in the Art Room. With the door hung Bekir went to do the electrics to get the Art Room as close to complete today as possible. Grouting is a dirty process as you can see; it takes some cleaning up afterwards. Hikmet was still tap tap tapping away at the walls in the corridor. He had done a great job sweeping up the mess into a single pile and was now on the lower part of the walls.

The next excitement was towards the end of the day when we went to stretch our legs before my rush of business meetings began and found that Bekir had fitted the lights in the Art Room. A was clearly excited and the lights she chose look awesome.

For the following 4 hours or so I was on back to back meetings and A had to take the men home. When my final call finished dinner was just being served up and we took ourselves out onto the balcony to eat it; this was a brilliant idea as even though the sun was going down the air temperature is finally comfortable without direct sunlight.

And so I came back to my desk after dinner to write this update for you; the moon was shining in through the window to Room 13 so I snapped a quick shot to close out the update.

An aside; just now A did the ear drops for Thelma, who has the slightest infection in one ear. She messaged to say that both Thelma and Louise remember the routine I got them into last year when she was away and I was doing the drops; Thelma jumped onto A's lap while Louise took herself to bed. These two are just beyond intelligent; incredible!

Thanks for reading, as always, and good night.

  1. The old school will be an impressive building by the time you’ve finished it. You will have to do a before and after post when it’s all finished.
