Bitty Progress

Progress has been slow today, and non-existent yesterday as the weather was too bad for the men, but still there has been progress as you're about to see.

Yesterday really was miserable. It rained all day, a soaking drizzle, and it was not very enticing to go outside at all. Bekir rang early to say they weren't coming and I really didn't blame them. Rosie, however, didn't care and wanted out anyway so we wrapped her up and I wrapped myself up and we went outside and she loved it, playing with her dumper truck and then jumping in puddles and generally enjoying the fresh air. No progress on the house, though.

So one of the things that was completed today was Lionel the Lion is now hanging on the wall of the entrance below me. We think he was a school mascot maybe but either way today the repairs I began many years back have been completed, he has been treated with wood stain and yacht varnish to preserve him, and now he's hanging proudly and looking amazing in place. This is a wonderful unlooked for bonus for this year.

Another thing going on today was the electrics and I think now we are finally ready for the pump and reservoir to be put in place. Tomorrow, at least, I hope they'll start that - I was hoping this would be done today but my additional tasks did distract them. The shuttering has also been taken down from the new sheds and the insulation is well secured to the roof of each bay; we'll attach more to the out outside walls later on. Bekir also ran the power and fitted the light and switch for the wood shed light which will be very useful in winter.

The final thing completed today is the sign has been lifted and fixed to the wall and it looks amazing. First of all Sally painted the wall however the sun has bleached the old paint so much that new paint looks really out of place. Then it took all of us to lift it up and Bekir and Sally screwed in the bolts before Bekir painted the kratko (й) on the "и" as it had been missing from the painting Ivan did years back. This caused much hilarity as he rang his old teacher to confirm the spelling.

And so there you have it. Other things went on (like A managing to get to Kardjali for some stuff) and also the window people came to measure up so they can quote for all the glazing and doors we need for these new things - including the balcony work. Exciting and expensive times indeed.

Thanks for reading.
