Filling Holes In

Welcome back; today has been a day of two halves, though cold throughout.

I woke with Rosie this morning, allowing Angela a very well deserved lie in, and Rosie was in pretty good form. We spent some time in the playroom then wrapped her up warm to go outside as though the rain wasn't falling it was windy and cold. The men turned up and went onto the balcony to work while I did some of my own work in Room 13. Today was all about Bekir finding sufficient existing rebar to provide a good footing for the support columns at each point. The one near the wall above the garage door proved very difficult and he was digging and digging. Meanwhile Sally and Halil were down with the grinder cutting up metal to use as footings for the columns. It was very noisy indeed. With the cutting done each strip was then welded together to make a complete foot.

Eventually Bekir did find the next metal along and was able to secure in place more rebar to make a really strong base. The rest of the day was spent with small amounts of drilling but mostly mixing up and filling the holes with concrete, and putting the base plates in. They're a fair way to having all the feet in place which is great. It was cold and miserable in the afternoon and the thunder rumbled around while the rain fell. Not nice. I hope it is clearer tomorrow, it's not good to have people working outside in weather like that. Always when we're doing roofing type work it rains!

This evening Angela got to take Rosie to the neighbours while I spent time job hunting and the puppies sat on my lap and snoozed. I'm glad this was a quick update as I'm a little later starting than I planned. Thanks for reading, though!
