Today Rosie went back to school for her second day so I waved her off in the car while Angela drove her down and I felt really sad to see her go; I know this is normal though. The men were in, including Hikmet today, and got stuck in with Bekir working on electrics, starting with wiring the new light switches I picked up yesterday evening, while Halil and Sally scrubbed and cleaned the flor, which took ages as it was very dirty. They got wire brushes and everything involved. Hikmet was back to clearing the huge pile of wood, breaking the twigs up and stashing it for next year into the end of the green building. With Rosie at school Angela got stuck into making a planter for the balcony, of course with a hot cuppa nearby. Bekir completed the lights and got started on the plugs, first of all on the wall behind our bedroom. Sally and Halil were mopping and scraping and cleaning all morning.

A light. In the corridor!

With the floor cleaning Sally and Halil masked off and started to paint the border with black paint I also picked up yesterday. This was done pretty quickly, though it is a fair size, and then the rest of the tidying began with the scaffold going downstairs ready for library painting to begin tomorrow. Bekir continued on the electrics and got all the plugs in place and after I finished work I cleared off the old desk and Halil helped me shift it to the end of the corridor; shortly I'll be moving out there for my work desk while the area outside Room 13 is done, and there's also some work done inside Room 13 like blinds, upgrading network and a new on-demand boiler. It is SO cool to see how the corridor looks now it is all but done - tomorrow we'll have the light fittings in, the curtain up on the windows to the bedroom, and it'll be totally completed!

So I'll see you tomorrow again; thanks for reading.

  1. I wonder if you visualized how much work was involved when you bought the place? And if not, would you do it again knowing what you know now?

    1. Yeah I think we did know to be honest; our estimates have pretty much been spot on - getting the living quarters done in a few years, then taking it easier on the rest.

Best decision I ever made so would definitely do it over!
