Friday rib day

This blog post is the 900th I've done on this blog.

NINE HUNDRED!

Crazy times.

Anyway, to the update.

The men again were later than we would like today so I think I'll be needing to have that word on Monday however, again, they were straight to it and really cracked on. The first task was to lift and up position two of the ribs near the roof so they could position the top beam exactly and ge the uprights in place. With this done and the correct dimensions measured Sally and Halil pulled more steel onto the roof while Bekir cut the uprights to size. These were then welded into place by Sally. I'd asked Bekir to finish up the bench for my airbrush so I can try and give it a go this weekend so he then got started on finishing the legs so they could be put in place.

For most of the rest of the day the work was the same - lifting a length onto the balcony, measuring it in place, cutting the angles so they'd meet accurately over the ridge, then welding. Bekir had to head off a bit early and before he left he did get the legs in on the bench so that'll be cleaned and my first ever airbrush attempt will begin! Sally and Halil stayed an extra hour or so and finished up the welding and now it is the weekend.

The weather today has been much better but it has been blowing a gale as well, really gusty. We did get outside a lot, though, which was great and I had another interview which was also awesome. Before dinner I had a lovely time outside with Rosie, Thelma and Louise. It's better when the weather is nice.

There you are - number 900! Thanks for reading, see you on Monday.

  1. And I've read every one!! Man you've done so much to the old school and become a little family into the bargain! How many rooms are still to be done? Are you still planning to have your train world up in the attic? Have a great weekend!

    1. What an incredible journey it has been, taking me places I never imagined it would - best thing ever.

Thanks for joining me throughout - here's to the next 900 updates!

Current plan is a small shelf layout outside Room 13 and then take that through the wall into the Games Room. Eventually indeed I may go into the roof and do something huge up there but I think start small and get bigger is the best idea :)

  2. Funny weather! The hottest spring ever in the UK. Now its turned cold with gusts of strong wind? be like it for two weeks they say. Good luck with the job hunt, not the best of times for that. Happy days.

    1. Yeah it just hasn't got going here yet this year; we've had some scattered nice days but mostly rainy.

Means my lawn is still nice and green, though.

Thanks for the good luck wishes - appreciated. It's a tough time for a lot of people indeed.
