Once again back to the update. Today has been a day of glorious sunshine and heavy rain - it has felt more like April than June.
Climbing snail
Guttering no more
Roof line rearranged
Looking good, coming on well
We woke to heavy overcast and damp (really not the normal weather we get) and Rosie spotted a huge snail climbing up the flyscreen on the back window of the nook. It really was very large! The men were in around on time and got stuck in to the rest of the planks on the roof. Bekir first of all had to remove the guttering where it is no longer needed and there was quite a lot of dirt and water that fell out. They cracked on with the planks after this and as Angela and I went out with Rosie to go visit a school for her they were very near done on the first side.
Scaffold extension, measuring
Working through the rain on the ribs
Climbing the long ladder for the last rib
By lunch time the half of the roof was done and so the next side was begun. The weather changed again in the afternoon and was really nasty, with quite a few rain showers that the men had to work through. What they were doing was not that safe looking either (when is it) as they were fixing the wooden beams next to the steelwork. At the top this was fine, but at the edges it was hanging out so far they had to jury-rig an extension to the scaffold and hold it safe with wire and rope and Halil and Sally hanging on. Crazy times. Anyway, by the end of the day all the beams are in place so tomorrow can go back to working on the planks - very exciting indeed.
There you go - progress is definitely slower than was expected as tomorrow is the end of the "it'll take four weeks" estimate however they have had a few days off in that time so maybe it'll end up being 20 days or so of their time. We shall see.
