Another day, and tomorrow Angela is home with Rosie! Yesssss!! Today has been a really productive day for the workmen as well as being a really tough working day for me so let's get into it.
Locating the lights |
Stairway repair |
A table for Sally to stand on |
Reparing all the walls |
Running cable for the lights |
So much dust outside Room 13, and in as well |
The men were in on time and got stuck into the landing work first, with Bekir marking out where the lights and switches want to go and Sally and Halil mixing cement and starting to fix up the damage to the stairs. They also brought a table up for Sally to stand on while he bricked up the hole where the old electric fuse box was. This took him almost no time. Bekir then was up on the scaffold with the drill channelling out for the cables and junction boxes that will power the lights - this caused a huge amount of dirt and got into Room 13 under the door; there was no way to avoid it.
More big holes to fill |
Fixing the cables in place |
Sally starts to repair the ceiling |
Paint on the library walls |
So much soot out of the kitchen pipes |
A really miserable day all day |
Room 13 doorway protected |
On the middle landing Sally finished repairing the walls while upstairs Bekir worked hard to get the cables in place and secured so Sally could start the process of fixing the ceiling and covering the cables back up. They were really on a charge today. As soon as he could Sally was in putting cement onto the ceiling and meanwhile Halil went and painted up in the library over where the new plaster was (including Bekir's electrical fun from Friday). Then it was time for pipe cleaning in the kitchen and lounge - there was SO much soot in the pipes in the kitchen they filled an entire bucket! It has been so horrible all day today, raining and miserable, that my washing had to go inside in the kitchen and had to wait all day for the pipes to finally be done. Upstairs Sally was cracking on with the ceiling and I exited Room 13 at one point to find myself all but blocked with plastic sheeting and a scaffold.
And there you have it; another day and loads of progress. Thanks for reading, and see you all tomorrow.
