I came up here to write this thinking it'd be a super quick update however I've done more than I remember. Let's get to it.
Halil inspects the mess |
Two barrows full of rubble |
Very bumpy driveway |
Smoothed the holes out |
Bekir about to spread |
Driveway looking so much better |
The men were up and at it on time getting stuck in with the last of the plaster stripping and all the dust and rubble they have generated. They were lifting it out into wheelbarrows to keep on top of it. The entrance part of the driveway has been getting worse and worse with holes and ruts so I went down with a metal rake and spent twenty minutes or so smoothing it all out. As I was finishing up Bekir brought the first of the wheelbarrows to dump so I asked him to spread it out over the driveway which he did. It is so much better now, and hopefully will hold up for another few months.
Bekir gets the final scraping done |
A paintbrush on a stick |
Plastering the beam in the playroom |
Working on the electrics |
Filling the hole |
Inside later on there was the last of the scraping to be done, while Halil got out the primer and painted all the newly-revealed ceiling in the bedroom so that it would be ready for plaster tomorrow. With that done he moved into the playroom and started plastering the beam. Bekir was now working on the electrics, first of all disconnecting the sockets and then working to take them off the wall. Halil was continuing to plaster and also filled in a big gap in the bedroom. All good progress.
A fun little play fight |
Rosie is a statue |
I'll leave you with some of the after-school fun we've had, watching Dutch and Xena play fight while pushing Rosie on the swing, then Rosie pretending to be a statue on the old walnut tree stump.
So there it is; thanks for reading and back tomorrow.
