Cement pour and Elf

It's been an awesome and exciting day today so without further ado let's get to it.

This morning being December 1st we had our new Elf on a Shelf arriving; last night Angela hung the balloon that I made in the library and when Rosie woke up we took her in to turn on the lights for the tree and then she saw the elf and since then she's barely shut up about the elf! She was also very pleased with the gift that Pickles brought with her - advent calendars (or alligators as she calls them) for both me and her. It was a fun morning. There was also a stunning sunrise which I grabbed a picture of while upstairs with Rosie turning on the lights up there.

The men were in and onto it on time arriving with the cement mixer in the back of Thomas. First of all they worked out a bit more of the levels then spread plastic out over the whole area before stashing a load of old insulation sheets (that were before used underneath the pool) which will also go below the cement. Next up the mixer was set up and running all day to provide all the cement needed. They did run out of materials later in the day so had to pop out but that didn't take long.

The main part of the rest of the day was spent mixing cement and bringing it in using wheelbarrows to spread over the floor. It's so nice to see this space now starting to take shape however there is an extra job that we've decided to do in here (as always) which is we are going to knock through a ventilation window in the back wall to prevent it getting damp and smelly. At the end of the day I leant some insulation up to prevent the puppies from getting in there.

The final jobs for the day for the men was to tidy up and clean around the holes in the walls and then sand down and sweep and mop up to finish the whole thing. That job is now totally completed so I can make a start on my own model railway. I'm so excited!

I'll leave you with this video of the train running round the Christmas tree which I got working this morning. Christmas can now happen!

So there it is. Thanks for watching and see you next week.
