Today has been a slightly frustrating day for the men, I think, as you'll find out why shortly. Let's get to it.
Bekir working on the second ceiling layer |
Halil also layering the ceiling |
Getting to the end of this task |
Fixing some wood for shuttering |
Trying to get the cement to stick to the walls |
Lots of betoncontact on the walls |
Cement now sticking to the walls |
Fitting mesh over the new window |
First off the men were in the cupboard under the stairs working on putting the second coat up on the ceiling. This went well and they got it all done together in quick order. After that they turned their attention to the walls. Bekir put some shuttering up while Halil mixed and then they started throwing the mud at the walls. It was then that the frustration occurred as the walls, despite being scraped with the wire brush the other day, were very dusty and so the cement would stay up but not for long before falling off. After a struggle they decided to get some sealant for the wall so the cement had a chance to stick. With these supplies bought Halil spread it all over the walls and then Bekir continued with the walls down the low ceiling section round the corner and by the end of the day Bekir was happy with the state of those walls. Before leaving Halil sealed the window with some wire mesh so the air could continue to get in and help dry the walls.
So there it is. It's a shame the walls wouldn't take the cement initially but now we should be good for tomorrow. Thanks for reading, and back tomorrow.
