Tiling, painting, and humanure again

Today has been a far more healthy day for all of us, though Rosie was looking a bit sorry for herself for a while. I'm now almost back to 100% and Angela is getting there as well. Thank goodness!

The day started late as none of us woke until 7:45 so I was pretty much straight to my desk. The men turned up very on time and Halil got stuck in to the painting tasks on the landing. First of all he removed the masking for the black skirting paint he had done then he was up the scaffold and remained there all day, painting the ceiling white. Bekir, for his part, got stuck into tiling outside the windows on the balcony. It was a much nicer day today, even warm enough for me to have my window open a lot of the day, and I pulled Thomas out of the garage where he had been all night with a dehumidifier running (that did almost nothing) and parked in the sun with the windows open to catch the breeze the blew all day from the North. By the end of the day he was much drier inside but another day or two like this is still needed I think. I also cleaned him out, which is not a regular occurence!

At lunch time I did a chore I've not had to do for a while; I emptied the humanure buckets. The toilets we bought at great expense from Canada are just not doing very well and next year a rethink will be required. For now we're back to buckets. Bekir was still going on the tiles and cutting more ones as he needed them while Halil was down from the scaffold and fixing up the double windows on the landing. These have always been a bit stiff to open and I think now he's sorted that; he has also cleaned all the drains so hopefully the leak days are over. At the end of the day Rosie chose going outside over watching The Hobbit which was a great decision. We had a lovely stroll, looking at the now-full duck pond and then going into the wood store room where she shouted "RATS!" for the puppies. It was a lovely evening and then my replacement UPS arrived so we headed inside and then she was ready for The Hobbit.

So there it is; another day done. Back again tomorrow.
