Final glazing, more plastering

Finally Friday is upon us and the weekend is tomorrow, though rest isn't in our future as we have a lot to do to get ready for Christmas.

The day started off cold and overcast though the forecast was for sun and this came true shortly after as the clouds disappeared very quickly and the sun came up. It was a lovely sunrise indeed. Bekir and Halil were in and onto their respective tasks, with Bekir trimming down tiles and Halil plastering the ceiling outside Room 13 on the landing. Bekir had changed his mind, and for the better I think, about the very top of the outer wall and spent a bit of time chipping back the cement so he could tile to the top rather than just using grout (which would not have look as good at all). This is one thing that is very impressive with them; they do want to do an excellent job and are very happy to both put extra effort in (as when I asked them to remove the tiles and redo the top of the wall) and also spot where they weren't correct and change their plans. It looks much nicer with tiles, indeed.

The clouds rolled back in and then Angela lit the fire so the sun came out. She headed into town and also had a lot of fun outside with Rosie, who was very pleased the rain had stopped. After lunch the window people arrived and very quickly fitted the final two panes of glass, while replacing the broken one. We are now all but sealed, with just a couple of small gaps in the very corners of the apex end. It was quite a job, and required Halil to give up his scaffold so they could be more stable while fitting the large panes of glass. With that done Bekir finished up his tiling and started to plan and prepare the outside part for tiling. This, and the two corner holes, are all that is left for this job to be done. This is very exciting!

Once again I got to play on the balcony with Rosie while Bekir worked - this time she was sliding down her slide over and over, but only when holding my hand. She was absolutely loving it! The sunset was beautiful on the hills and then we went out onto the land to run around. Rosie just loves being outside and running through the leaves and exploring. It was getting dark, and cold, by the time we headed back inside.

This final picture is not mine but a friend who lives at the bottom of the hill; this is the bridge across the river that I walk over to get home from town and the water level is SO high after all the rain (and more forecast for tomorrow). I think it must be at least 20' high flood waters. Just incredible!

So there you are; back to the blog on Monday, have a good weekend.
