Today started off very very cold. It was a freezing fog and it did not clear for a long time.

When the men arrived they were straight out, however, to do the final little bits one the roof end they worked on yesterday, fitting some slivers of wood to finally seal it all, and then putting in some cross pieces to make it look a bit nicer, and also prevent the cut ends from being exposed to the elements. It is such a lovely finish, it looks great. It was bitterly cold, however, and the frost was heavy. I was glad to be at my desk with the fire going.

With the one side completed the men made plans to work on the opposite side, above the wood shed. For this they lifted the scaffold into place, hammered some blocks underneath the feet with long nails sticking out to prevent it slipping, and lashed it to columns on the balcony using Rambo's old fixed leads that we used when he needed to the prevented from harassing builders. It looked terrifying but was very secure and there were no problems. Bekir was on the scaffold while Halil prepared the wood lengths and in this way they pretty much completed the other side as well. I've asked them to now do the apex end which will be even more difficult but tomorrow promises to be a bit less brutal weather I hope. It was warm enough once the fog burned off, in the sun, today but still really too cold to be working outside; it's such a shame they are still out there which was not planned.

I'll leave you with this sunset picture and with the knowledge that Angela and Rosie had a lovely day however there are no pictures of it. They went shopping, Rosie had a nap in the car, Angela was shattered by the end of the day but they are surviving; only another five weeks to go!
