Last night it did snow; after I published the video I went to check and it was quite white outside; it wasn't that cold so we were a little worried that it would not last until morning.

I was cold in the night last night, which doesn't happen often, but Rosie gave me a lovely lay in and when I woke I was very pleased to see the snow still there. Angela had a bad night but was up before I started work and took Rosie to play in the snow; I was really jealous listening to them. The men were in and working on the balcony as the window people need the wooden joists above the angled window to be fitted before they can come, fit that and also drill out the drainage holes. The 10 x 10 was a little out, size wise, so they used SandS's old table saw, which has been SO useful, to shave them to the exact size. Then it was a scary watch as Bekir jumped up onto the top beam and they fitted the four lengths into place. Angela went out with Rosie during the morning while I had an all morning meeting and this meant the puppies were curled up in front of my fire, very happily indeed.

With the big beams in place Bekir and Halil moved to fitting the treated wood underneath the eaves, starting on the end over the balcony (which is obviously easier as it isn't using long ladders). This process surprised me just how much of a difference it is making. They will be a few more days working outside doing this and then fitting the steel around the edges of each window, but when it is done this balcony will be snug. It was a lovely day once the clouds cleared, though still cold, but that did mean Rosie and Angela (and me for a little bit) could get into the garden where Rosie found a last little bit of snow. The men worked hard to get as much fitted as possible (they are wanting to be back inside, and then stop working for a few months, so are now working fast to finish) but they helped me lift the railway through into the lounge before their coffee break. It was a really lovely end to the day to get it set up and watch Rosie react to it; we sat in there for a fair while as she played and watched the train go around. Awesome!
So there you are; a good day today, and here's to another good one tomorrow.
