Mowing and Patio extension

Welcome back to another day of progress; more than expected as the forecast storms haven't come near us.

It was a foggy start to the day but it cleared off quite quickly to leave a very warm day for most of it. The task for Bekir and Halil was still around the tabletennis table as they removed more rubble, weeds and soil and graded it to the correct depth. The patio here will have a slight slope in a couple of places, and be flat around the table so we can either play tabletennis on it (you'll get some wicked spin off that surface) or use it to eat at, maybe when the pool is out. It was heavy work, and did involve the big breaker to remove some slab.

At lunch time I pulled the mower out and went at it as fast as I could; the forecast is for pretty much continual rain from the weekend, maybe even including tomorrow, and the grass has grown so much since the last time. It's pretty difficult at the moment to keep on top of it but the efforts today meant I actually hit the target I set myself of cutting all the way round up to the green building. Tomorrow I'll try and get the rest done. There have been storms rumbling around a lot of the afternoon, all cleared now (taking the humidity with them which was a bonus) but nothing actually hit us and we had no rain. Again, thankfully.

The area around the tabletennis table has now all but been cleared and prepared for the cement pour. It has been edged with the wood to keep the cement in and raked and graded to allow for a 10cm thick pour. I also found that they have been using some of the spoil to fill in at the edge of the orchard, behind the chicken house, which is pretty cool. Towards the end of the day The Little Lady came round to tell us that our wood was to be delivered in half an hour and about one and a half hours later it arrived on a big Zil truck. I would love one of these, though I've no real use for it. This is 10 cubic and it was unloaded very quickly by the driver and another guy who came in a car. We are expecting the same amout again tomorrow maybe.

Final picture is, I think, babies on a beetle but it could not be; it was hard to tell?

So there it is; thanks for reading, here's hoping to be back again tomorrow.

  1. Those look like parasites, in the last photo. I'd venture a guess even... they look like baby ticks.

    1. I'm sorry I forgot to publish this; we did some research and think they are baby spiders hitching a ride. I do hope they aren't baby ticks!
