I'm sat here as the rain, falling since about 5pm, just finishes up. Thankfully it did hold off for the day so we got a full day of progress in.
Final raking of roots out |
Mixing cement to support the drainage channels |
A storm rumbling its way towards us |
Drains on going |
The day began with Bekir and Halil finishing grading and tidying around by the side of the glass room; with that done there is still some tidying of weeds to do, but mostly we are ready for the pour of cement - apart from the drainage channels. These were the next task and they handmixed some cement and then used it to secure the channels in place, running above the pipes previously fitted. Coming towards lunchtime the clouds and storms were building, the sound of thunder was in the air, but it was still sunny and warm here. The channels were being installed slowly but carefully; it is so important that they be set in place correctly.
All the lawn mowed again |
Halil mixing more cement |
Rosie having fun on the play frame |
Extending the second channel |
Puppies outraged at the rain |
At lunch I rushed outside and did more mowing, actually getting everything I had hoped against hope to achieve before the end of today. The rain was still holding off and the men were still making steady progress, finishing off the first run and getting started on the second. Angela had been to the doctors today to get a very painful wrist looked at and so I had two reasons to go and collect Rosie from school; the other being I'm about to get very busy with work so I won't get as much opportunity. I took her to the other park near her school and she had a lot of fun on the slide and swing. The men left the patio having nearly completed two runs; it did start to rain a little right at the end. I cooked this evening which I enjoyed and Thelma and Louise were outraged at the rain so demanded cuddles.
So there you have it; if the forecast holds then we may not have as much progress next week but I'll be back on the day the workmen are here.
Thanks for reading, as always.
