Steel work complete, back to toilets

Today is brought to you by non-stop effort and tiredness, but also by the fact that I have accepted one offer of a job and so should be working again in a couple of weeks, which will unlock a LOAD more tasks that we hoped to do this year. Very good news.

Back to this morning and it was a misty one first thing which burned off very quickly. The men arrived on time today so my quiet word yesterday must have really helped which is great. They were onto the balcony and fixing the central pillars to the floor finally now the whole structure is in place. I borrowed Halil for a while to help me as I had to carry our friend's boxes down from the roof into the garage as a courier is collecting them tomorrow. When we finished that Bekir was cutting with the chainsaw to remove the boards below the eaves and then he and Sally cut through so the final ribs could be fitted. Finally more welding and the metal work was done. Very exciting. I think the next task there is working out how they are attaching the planks to the metal and Bekir does have a plan.

With this completed we have to order the next materials (I did suggest we do this a week or so ago but planning ahead is not something that is done here) but while we were out we also picked up the items that are needed to finish the plumbing so we can get the toilets finally in use. While we were out Angela was rushing to clear the pantry of food so the men could run the pipe through to the bathroom and when we got back they got stuck into doing just that. By the end of the day the pipe was in and run from the washroom through the pantry and into the toilet, and Sally had done the initial cement as well. Great progress and it was left in a state that didn't interrupt our water anywhere.

I'll leave you with an adorable video of Rosie seeing a tortoise walking across the lawn. She was fascinated and loved watching it as it made its way towards the oak tree. We're so lucky to have tortoises wild here.

Thanks for reading
