Sunshine and Storms

We're back in the room, after no men on Friday as they needed the day off.

Friday started foggy but cleared quickly, in the new pattern we are seeing. I was up early and got Rosie before Angela woke which was my aim and we had time outside. Rosie is loving climbing the steps up from the parking area and I saw a chrysalis attached to the wall there. I did not take many pictures and it was pretty much a nice relaxing day without the men around - sometimes it is nice to have peace and quiet. That night I was sat doing a bit of hobbying with the window open when I heard a very strange sound. Check out the video above to listen and see if you know what it is. I have no idea right now.

Saturday was another lovely day for the morning and most of the afternoon. I was able to get a load more weeding done by the front path while looking after Rosie as she was happy to watch and help a bit even. Brilliant. I also got the lawn mower out and mowed most of the lawn in the morning, and then the final bit across to the green building just before dinner time. Such a great feeling to see this done. The timing was perfect as about twenty minutes after I finished mowing the heavens opened and the rain was torrential. Really incredible!

Sunday was another warm one in the morning and we got the new paddling pool for Rosie out and blown up, Angela taking her out there while I did a few bits inside. Again it was a lovely day, lots of fun with the pool was had. She didn't go back in after the first time but did have great fun playing wtih the inflatable toys that came with it. She also fed her afternoon snack to Thelma, who is so good she took it very daintily indeed. Being outside is something that both of us love, even when spiders (and Orb Weaver, apparently) drop on my head out of the trees - I brushed it off then managed to snap a few pictures before it disappeared. Rosie did not want to go inside when the customary rain storm blew in over the afternoon so we sat outside in the shelter of the porch and watched it blow past. The sunset was stunning as well. A lovely weekend indeed.

And so we get to today. It was a tired one for everyone today. The men turned up on time and were straight back to painting the metal with preservative. I took Bekir early, and Rosie came with us, to the shops to pick up some more supplies and by the time we left even the early morning fog had burned off and it was very hot. Sally and Halil pretty much spent all day continuing to paint the steel while Bekir got the huge grinder out and trimmed the ends of the ribs to length before starting the process of drilling out and bolting the wood to the steel which will then have the planks nailed to it for the roof. All this time the current weather pattern was asserting itself and we were sandwiched between two storms, one to the north and the other to the south. Eventually they hit and work had to pause outside until it passed.

What a storm it was; it flashed and crashed around for quite a while, there were a fair few light flickers, but eventually it passed. While it was raining Bekir came in to put a few shelves up in the kitchen and inside cupboards and then the rain passed so they were back outside and the painting and roof work continued.

There you are; other than this I can report that both our bucket toilets have been retired and our new toilets appear to be working well. This is a good thing.
