Socialising

Well that was a really REALLY busy few days, hence the lack of bloggage.

So now I have a few things to blog about, and a load to update you on. First of all, my last few days.

I was out Wednesday night with friends from my old job and that was a really good time, though I bailed at about midnight so I could get the last bus home (taxis are such a waste of money) and not be too tired the next day as I was planning on being out again meeting another old colleague on Thursday after work.

This I did but the evening did not end quite as expected; in a good way. The pub was crowded and we were joined at our table by a couple of girls and one thing led to another and I seem to have met someone :) Totally unexpected and awesome!

Friday I was over to the studio with Julian to drop all the gear off and then go to my old local which had been shut for ages and was reopening. This was great but the best part was Sarah agreed to come with (even stopping in Julian, fair play) and the bands did not let me down; they were all only young kids but the sound was brilliant and they all played good songs really well.

Saturday I was meeting up with my best friend and his new girlfriend so after a coffee I legged it across town for a pint and a meal with them and then onwards home in Julian to drop him off and get on a bus back for the Gogol Bordello gig that evening.

No rest for the wicked.

This gig was just out of this world and, if you like live music, I would recommend getting yourself to this tour. They are one of the best live acts I have ever seen and really did not let us down, with a two hour set where I was jumping, singing and dancing along all the way.

After a pint in town we were back to the house to taste the whiskey and honey (very nice, but put me to sleep) and then collapse into bed.

Funnily enough Sunday was a very restful day which involved cooked breakfast, brief run of my best mate to the station, and then back to veg on the sofa.

So you can see why it's been a non-blogging period of time.

A couple of sour notes to sound here, sadly. First of all there seems to still be many things wrong with the electrics in Julian; the leisure battery was all but flat when I got to the studio on Friday and when I hooked him up (using the same equipment as I did the week before) the error light came up on the consumer unit. It seems to me that there is a drain in the system somewhere because I definitely know I charged that battery fully from a hook up to the house during the week. I am going to double check this behaviour this evening and then get very angry indeed at the useless SOB who over charged me for such a shockingly bad job.

All this is making me feel like I am a little badly prepared which is really strange; I am aware that I need to get a tarpaulin and I also need to do a few bits on the trailer (put the water-proofed wood base on, attach the laycorn boxes, etc) so maybe I'll do a lot of that over the Christmas break).

I also took a look at the pile of stuff in the storage unit (which now has the chairs for my hardwood table) and thought "why am I taking all this crap?!" so I think a serious evaluation of what I'm taking needs to occur.

Time is really starting to tumble down towards my exit date and the nerves are building.

Cheers for joining me on this ride.
