Another beautiful spring day

I must admit it's nice to be back doing these daily; it is difficult looking through 300 pictures from a week and remembering exactly what went on. Of course it's difficult for me to remember back to this morning as well but that's another story.

The alarm woke us this morning, the first alarm call we've had for many months, and A let me snooze in but I only stayed another five minutes or so. The sun was just rising as I got up and made my way through for the vital early morning brew. I had had an idea for making raised areas for our gaming table so while sipping my brew I made a couple of test tiles and I'm glad I did as I have already learned a bit to take to the next version. While I was doing my chores while A collected the men I had a bit of a shock as I couldn't find Sassy; it turns out we had left her cage open all night and there she was hopping around the balcony as if nothing was wrong. In the night Thelma had woken us both up by growling really loudly but I hadn't been able to see anything on the balcony; I think now that Sassy must have hopped close to the door. At least nothing got her. Thelma joined me on the balcony, as she often does when I'm feeding Sassy, and was chased around with her tail between her legs by the rabbit - not the bravest of puppies, our Thelma.

Today we had an extra body on site, with Hikmet joining us to work on cleaning up and painting the storage and display cabinets. He is a good worker and good to have around. There were the three big shelving units that had been removed yesterday and the two glass fronted cabinets that were in the Gaming Room already so these two were moved out into the corridor for Hikmet to work on. With that done and the back wall accessible Mesut set to work with Bekir's hammer drill and started channeling. I headed out to the shops with Bekir, to get that out of the way early so I could work, and bought lights for the Games Room. It was a successful but expensive shopping trip.

When we got back we found that Mesut had cracked on with the chasing in the Games Room. He was still at it, gave me a small wave, then carried on. Hikmet had been working with plain sand paper but we picked up a handle for him to use which made it easier. Lunch time we spent sat on the patio again, I had cold Chicken and Rice and it was awesome, and the heat was something else. I'm very close to shorts weather now. After lunch the men got stuck back in with Hikmet beginning to paint PVA on to seal the damage to these huge shelving units. Mesut was all the way around to above the doorway with his chasing and Bekir was measuring and marking up where things should go like lights and plug sockets. I did an awesome drawing to work out where things should go and now we're really happy with the layout of the room.

The rest of the afternoon was taken up with lots of drilling, lots of dust, and lots of cleaning up. All the chasing is now complete in the Art Room and multiple coats of PVA have been applied to the relevant parts of the storage units. In the Games Room there is just the chasing for the light fittings and then the dusty work will be done. I've a few more small items to buy to complete the stash of electrical stuff required for this work which I'll do early tomorrow morning and we're looking good for getting this done very quickly. It is so exciting to see the plans developing and being put into place.

I took the men home and it was a very quick swoop and collect to head back out for dinner as we were both in the mood for eating out. I remembered to grab a snap of the new plant pot I picked up today as this plant was massively outgrowing its original pot. I also got a picture of the tiles; I nearly forgot again. We went to the local fast food place for a dirty kebab and it was awesome. They must have a new chef as well as the food was a bit nicer than last time.

So now I'm going to do a bit of hobbying and then head to bed; it's tiring, getting up so early and I have been up early now every day for weeks.

Cheers for reading.

  1. Where is Sally, doesn't he work with Bekir anymore?

    1. Technically last year was when he retired; we did not expect to see him again. Sadly even though he was going to come this week he has a family illness preventing him from being here; we're still hopeful he will be able to come back again though - we do love Sally :)
